Model: HO gauge. Tractor Belarus MTS-50. Finished model made of plastic, painted and printed. Prototype: Minsk Traktorenwerke (Minski Traktorny Zavod), founded on May 29, 1946, produces agricultural and forestry vehicles in Belarus. With an 8-10% share of the world market, the company gradually became one of the world’s largest manufacturers of agricultural machinery and has employed almost 20,000 people since 2005. The main product, Belarus, has been exported to more than 60 countries and is a bestseller. Since the company was founded, more than three million tractors have been manufactured, more than 70,000 of which have been exported to the GDR. No wonder that the tractor could be found on almost every stretch of land in the GDR. The very robust all-purpose farm tractor type MTS 50 was manufactured in Minski Traktorny Sawod from 1961. The 55 hp tractor reached a top speed of 23 km/h and was mainly imported into the GDR. Three years after the start of series production of the MTS 50, the all-wheel drive version MTS 52 followed. As early as 1970, a revision took place, which primarily focused on increasing the engine output to 60 hp (44 kW), but a silencer was also installed and the front of the tractor was revised. In the 24 years of construction, around 1.25 million of both models were produced, an average of around 52,300 units per year. No wonder that a tractor of this robust type can still be found in the fields or on farms today.
