Model: H0 gauge. Laser cut kit made from colored architectural cardboard.
Since 1800, farmers took over the Dorenburg castle complex as tenants and farmed there until the late 1960s. In the early 19th century, a large barn was built to store the crops.
After many changes of ownership over the past 300 years, the castle and its outbuildings became the property of the municipality of Grefrath in 1966, and later that of the Viersen district. Today this barn is home to a toy museum. Toys from three centuries can be seen on three floors – embedded in a cultural-historical context.
Did you actually know that…
…no straw or hay is stored in the barn in front of you? Instead, inside you will find lots of toys on three floors! You can learn a lot about the history of toys: why we play and what’s special about them. At the entrance you received a red foil. This is now used: Under the texts for adults you will find coded texts for children – and only you can read them, not the adults!
